A few years ago, a strong title tag, meta descriptions and a few links were all you needed to compete in many areas. As the major search engines evolved, they tried to counteract the effect of SEO by changing the algorithms constantly. Where updates to the engines happened 6-8 months apart, they were now changing it more often.
